It was once said that progress comes only from
looking forward. With forward thinking and a desire to build the nation’s
best industrial supplier, J.C. Weaver and C.H. Briggs established Briggs-Weaver
Machinery Company in 1896. The Dallas based company provided service
for pump installations, lift trucks and material handling. While experiencing
rapid growth, the company built a reputation of providing the best
industrial equipment and services to many specialized industries throughout
the southwest region.
As Briggs-Weaver became profitable, Charles
A. Sammons took ownership of the company in 1952. Charles A. Sammons
was a self-made billionaire who consolidated his holdings to form Sammons
Enterprises, Inc. In 1962, Briggs-Weaver grew at a rate nearly 20 percent
a year as a contributing member of Sammons’ companies.
Briggs Equipment became a separate working
operation of the Sammons Enterprises, Inc. in 1996. Our success has
led us to become North America's largest dealer of industrial and construction
equipment. Our company operates in the Southern United States and Mexico
with continual plans for expansion.
Briggs Equipment is
currently among the largest member of Sammons Enterprises, Inc. Sammons
is a diversified holding company with interests in industrial and
construction equipment as well as insurance and hospitality. |
